On Saturday night, I caught a show by Lavacave at McCleary's Public House in Marietta, PA. The three members of the group put on a fantastic, high energy show of "retro pop, gypsy cabaret, and woodland punk (quoted from their Facebook page, and that's a very accurate description)." I'll definitely be seeing this group again, so check out Lavacave here to find a show to go to. Lavacave pics!
Amanda Wells and the Fargo Wagon
Amanda Wells and the Fargo Wagon (Durelle Leaman) played a long set at The Burning Bridge Tavern last Thursday. This is a late post, but here it is. I was looking forward to the longer set, and it was worth it. There were originals, covers, and Fire in the Glen tunes, which Amanda and Durelle are also a part of. How many times can I talk about how much I like hearing Amanda and her group of musicians? Whoever is reading this blog and myself are going to find out because I'm still going to be seeing her shows. Don't worry, I'll still mix it up with other groups. I took a few liberties with some post effects this time, so here are the pics!
Southern Tyde
For the second show I saw over the weekend, I was back at the Burning Bridge Tavern yet again and watched Southern Tyde perform. Southern Tyde is Hank Miller, Rich Rowe, Rob Rowe, John Murphy, and Josh Willis. Their music is a hard rocking country sound that I got into once they started playing, having not heard them before the performance. I also had the chance to meet with the guys over the course of the night, and they were a fun group to be around. Great music and cool people added up to a really good time. You can find Southern Tyde here to see where they're playing. Here are the pics from their show!
A Night With The Thrillbillies
In keeping with my recent tradition of seeing at least one music show a week, I saw three. For the first, I returned to The Burning Bridge Tavern in Wrightsville, PA on Friday to see the Thrillbillies. I had not seen the Thrillbillies before, nor was I familiar with their music, but I am very glad to know them now. The band consists of Craig Wise, Ray Horst, and M.J. "Goody" Good. The three of them come together from time to time to play as the Thrillbillies, but they don't rehearse the shows or use a set list. It's very easy to see how much fun they have while playing the set, and the spontaneity only adds to the laid back, fun atmosphere. The Thrillbillies are playing The Burning Bridge Tavern again on September 19th, so see them if you can. As an added bonus, I ran into Lisa Thomas and Linzi Brasie from the show I photographed last week. A big "hello" goes out to them. It was nice seeing them again and talking photography with Lisa's husband, Bryan. Enough text...pics!
